My journey with henna began when I was 13 years old, driven by curiosity and creativity. Since no one in my family was particularly skilled at doing the designs, I turned to YouTube tutorials and taught myself the intricate art of henna. What started as a hobby soon became a passion and a deeply personal form of expression. Over the years, I’ve honed my craft—drawing inspiration from tradition, nature, and modern design—to create art that celebrates both individuality and heritage.
With a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Sociology, I bring a thoughtful and human-centered approach to my work. Art has always been a part of my life in many forms, but henna holds a special place as a reflection of my cultural roots and creativity. I’m proud to share this art with the Austin, TX community and look forward to creating meaningful, beautiful designs that connect culture, celebration, and self-expression.

Q: What is henna or mehndi?
A: Henna, AKA, mehndi is an herbal dye that temporarily stains the skin red/brown where it is applied.
Q: Is henna safe?
A: Yes! It is made from plants and has minimal chemicals and additives. If you have known herbal allergies or sensitivities, be sure to ask for a spot check before getting a full tattoo.
Q: What is the henna process?
A: Wash and clean your hands. Apply the paste in a design that speaks to you. Wait for the paste to harden and dry. Let the hardened paste peel off. The stain will set with time!
Q: How long does it last?
A: Results vary but it usually lasts at least a week! Because it is a stain, protecting your skin will help it last longer. Wear gloves while doing dishes to make the design last as long as it can!
Q: Can people get it that are not descended from cultures that do henna?
A: Yes! Henna is art for all to enjoy. Just make sure to be respectful and pay your dues to the traditions and cultures that you have the privilege to enjoy:)
